For those of you who might not know my name is Brandy-Alexander, I’m a 22 year old afro-latina multidisciplinary artist, model and musician. I had to leave NYC recently following months of stewing in the city and streets where I was both physically and sexually assaulted. I lost my apartment, and job around the same time I got mugged on New Year’s and it sent me into the most ugly spiral. I pretty much spent months on couches and looking up at unfamiliar ceilings. The trauma from those events made it hard for me to find my footing again thus, making it damn near impossible for me to find the stability I desired. As my trans sisters know, It’s difficult to keep a normal job as a trans woman! The constant trans-misogyny and racism I’ve ensured in the workplace and society in general has made it so I have to live from gig to gig. Not having a place of my own has held me back in more ways than I can count. The stability of a roof over my head would aid me so much in being able to focus more on my mental health and less about where I’m going to sleep at night.
My goal for this fundraiser is to raise funds to help me cover 1st month rent + deposit on a new apartment and the cost of flying one way back to NYC. As well as the costs of settling into place.
