Those poor Parkland teenagers are figureheads for a bunch of gun control orgs whose ‘politics’ and language surrounding mental health is drenched in ableism and based on armchair diagnosing murderers. This was inspiring for maybe to weeks total and now I’m just distrustful and jaded again.

Oh and I just saw the video where they have these kids talmbout how assault weapons should only be used by the military and the police so That’s Definitely Over for me. That movement is dead, they’re not getting more of my time because as “intersectional” as this thing is on the surface level, them stanning the police and being a-okay with gun violence against innocent victims of the American military let’s me know this is just repackaged rhetoric I’ve heard before.

So rather than realize these teens have limited understanding of policies and politics, we should completely discredit and ignore then altogether???

It just seems like now that Tumblr has removed Russian blogs that we should be careful of posts that try to discredit progressive movements for not being perfectly up to some standard.

It’s not like they can implement any of the policies they have talked about. Most of them aren’t even old enough to vote. They didn’t come out with those statements to be internationally malicious.

There’s no reason to cancel a movement because some teens with their hearts in the right place misspoke.

Oh my god y’all. A person who didn’t read my post and didn’t realize I was talking about the gun control orgs and not the children before they wrote this long rebuttal has implied I’m a Russian bot fr.

I’ve made it.

Y’all are really about to accuse any popular Black blogger critical of anything of being a Russian bot? @staff make this person apologize to me.
