I’m staying away from this whole March for Lives thing. It’s highkey tepid af. 

The Parkland kids list of demands are not bad, they’re just not necessarily good either. They want privacy laws weakened so that mental health care providers can easily communicate to LE. 🧐 Now who would that primarily affect? And what’s brazy is similar, mostly black/brown, high schoolers in Broward County had a list of demands that were less ‘let’s blame this on mental health’ and more along the lines of ‘lets actually get more counselors and social workers into schools and teach sensitivity to students.’

I’m just watching this whole march coalesce into, what is frankly an underwhelming, attempt to ban only assault weapons and decrease privacy laws surrounding therapists and their patients. There is little to NO link between mental health and these shootings. The clear link is being ignored. And I’m annoyed to watch the public and corporate support for this when just yesterday police were surrounding protestors who demanded justice for Stephen Clark.
