my experience on base was so disorienting. it looks like the burbs and there are schools and children but you just hear constant shooting and and bombing (granted, from a distance but still) and people are walking around with guns and it was triggering tbh. these people had become so desensitized to their surroundings they didn’t even acknowledge that it sounded like straight up independence day in their neighborhood…
